Chitosan is effectively a magical fat inhibitor which work wonders for those in search of a safe way to lose that body fat.

What is chitosan made from? It is taken from chitin, a polysaccharide found in the exoskeletons of crustaceans. It is manufactured by removing the shells from the shellfish like lobster, shrimps and crabs.

So, how and when chitosan was discovered?

The origin of chitosan can be traced back to 1811 when “chitin”, from which it is derived, was first discovered by Braconnot, a then professor of the natural history in France. According to some researches, while Braconnot was conducting research on mushrooms, he isolated what was later to be called chitin.

Twenty years later, there was a man who wrote an article on insects in which he noted that similar substance was present in the structure of insects as well as the structure of plants. He then called this astounding substance as “chitin”.

Basically, the name chitin is derived from Greek, meaning “tunic” or “envelope”. The concept was further known in 1843 when Lassaigne demonstrated the presence of nitrogen in chitin.

Following the discovery of chitin, the name “chitosan” emerged in the scene. It was first discovered by Rouget while experimenting with chitin. Rouget observed that the compound of chitin could be manipulated through chemical and temperature treatments for it to become soluble. Then, it was in 1878 when Ledderhose identified chitin to be made of glucosamine and acetic acid. It was not actually until 1894 that Hoppe-Seyler named the tailored chitin, chitosan.

During the early 20th century, several researches took chitosan as their subject of study. They then involved sources of chitin, including crab shells and fungai. It was the work of Rammelberg in the 1930s that led to the confirmation on the identity of chitosan from these sources. It was also noted that by hydrolyzing chitin in several ways, it was determined by experts that chitin is a polysaccharide of glucosamine.

During the 1950s, the use of x-ray analysis had advanced the study of the incidence of chitin or chitosan in fungai. However, it is only the most advanced technologies that proved the most reliable in accepting the existence of chitin as well as cellulose in the cell walls. The first book on chitosan was published 140 years after the initial observation of Braconnot, and that was in 1951.

During the early 1960s, chitosan was examined for its ability to bind with the red blood cells. That time also, the substance was considered as a hemostatic agent. Then, for the past three decades, chitosan has been used at water purification plants for detoxifying water. It is spread over the surface where it absorbs greases, oils, and other potential toxins.

Nowadays, Chitosan it is known as a dietary supplement that is good for weight loss. In fact, it has been marketed for such purpose for about 20 years in Japan as well as in Europe.

So, although Chitosan is taken as the ‘wonder’ pill of today, it has been around for ages and has been a subject since the 1811.

Low Calorie Recipe - Chinese Slimming Tea: How To Burn Extra Fat and Calories With Chinese Slimming Tea

Chinese Slimming Tea: How To Burn Extra Fat and Calories with Chinese Slimming Tea
by Theresa Sontag

Do you want to lose weight and get slim? In Chinese restaurants, choose stir-fried dishes rather than sweet and sour or sesame dishes.

Angelic Choice! Instead of chocolate cake, have a slice of angel food cake.

In the Mood for Mexican? Order a burrito or soft taco rather than a hard taco or chimichanga.

Substitute for sour cream. Use plain, low-fat yogurt or fat free sour cream in place of sour cream in your dip mix.

Stay tu;ne for more tips in a day or two. We’ve all heard the phrase “You are what you eat.” But what about what you drink? It’s easy to chug down 500-1000 calories without even noticing when you’re choosing drinks with added sugars like regular sodas, lemonade, fruit punch, cocoa, cappuccino and sweetened tea. According to the US Department of Agriculture, people consuming 2,000 calories a day should eat no more than about 10 teaspoons (40 grams) of added sugar. But recent surveys show that the average American consumes about 20 teaspoons of sugar per day. Soft drinks, which contain about nine teaspoons of sugar per 12-ounce can, are a leading contributor to increased sugar consumption. Sugar itself isn’t evil. It provides energy, but lacks other important nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and fiber, and may potentially replace healthier choices. Make your drinks count toward a well-balanced diet by choosing water, low-fat milk, or sugar-free beverages to complete your meal!
The Label Says It All! Label reading could save your life (or a few calories)! Just because a product is sugar-free does not make it calorie or fat free, so it’s important to do a quick comparison between brands and varieties to make the best choice! A perfect example is hot cocoa mix. When examining several packages, it was discovered that the Swiss Miss Fat Free with Calcium cocoa had fewer calories than their mix that was marketed as sugar-free! Only 50 calories per serving, this mix is sweetened with Splenda, a sugar substitute. A few seconds of research rewarded me with a sugar-free, fat-free, guilt-free, calcium-enriched cup of hot cocoa. The trick is to do it in a healthy way! Here are some tips for you for planning your meals:
* Eat several small meals (optimally four) and a couple of small snacks throughout the day
* Make sure every meal is balanced -- incorporate palm-sized proteins like lean meats, fish, egg whites and dairy products, fist-sized portions of complex carbohydrates like whole-wheat bread and pasta, wild rice, multigrain cereal and potatoes, and fist-sized portions of vegetable and fruits
* Limit your fat intake to only what's necessary for adequate flavor
* Drink at least eight 8-oz. glasses of water throughout the day
* I also recommend that you take a multi-vitamin each day to ensure you are getting all the vitamins and minerals your body needs.

Low Calorie Recipe - SugarLess Cake

Low Calorie Recipe

SUGARLESS CAKE

1 c. dates, chopped
1 c. prunes, chopped
1 c. raisins
1 c. cold water
1 stick margarine, melted
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. plain flour
1 c. nuts, chopped
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla

Boil dates and prunes in the one cup of water for 3 minutes; add margarine and raisins and let cool. Mix flour, soda, salt, eggs, nuts, spices and vanilla. Add to fruit mixture. Stir to blend. Pour into baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.

For more recipes and articles, visit Low Fat Recipes and Low Carb Recipe! The truth is that they're nothing more than "powdered food" (or "liquid food").
Therefore, the primary benefit of these products is convenience. It's a challenge to eat frequently and to get enough high quality protein from whole foods, so quality MRP's are great when you're in a hurry and you don't have time to eat food, but they're not better than food, no matter what any supplement "guru" says.
Owners of supplement companies will say that MRP's are the greatest thing since electricity. That shouldn't come as any surprise; sales of these products run in the tens of millions of dollars each year.
With the one possible exception of post-workout nutrition during muscle size-building programs, eating real food is better than drinking shakes. The human gastrointestinal system has evolved to efficiently digest whole food, not powders or pills.
The process of digesting solid food every three hours actually increases your metabolic rate. This is known as the "thermic effect of food." Powders fail to fully take advantage of this metabolic boost.
Here's a fascinating and powerful fact about the thermic effect of food:
You can actually BURN FAT WITH FOOD. I know that sounds kind of odd, because when you think of food, you generally think that food is what makes you fat. However, it is physiologically correct to say that you can burn fat with food, provided you select the right fat burning foods and avoid fat storing foods.
Understanding the thermogenic properties of food and how to apply this in your own personal nutrition plan can have a profound impact on your results. It's part of the reason why "a calorie is not just a calorie" and why, with a program such as Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle, you can actually eat more food while burning more fat at the same time.
You can learn more about the "thermic effect of food" and how to burn fat with food in the ebook, Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle,
Also, the ebook comes with bonus reports that go into great detail about exactly which foods you should avoid and which foods you should eat more of to burn more fat:
* Foods that Burn Fat * Foods That Turn To Fat * The A Food B Food Lecture: How to get good grades on your food choices
You can get the ebook along with all the bonus reports at the Burn The Fat website.

Low Calorie Recipe - Eat What You Want!

Low Calorie Recipe

Tired of always watching what you eat? It discusses healthy weight loss and the problems associated with it. It is a proven fact that most of us eat more than we think. That is why pre-packaged systems help us lose weight-it is easier to let someone else measure out our portions for us.But Why Spend Your Money on Mass-Produced Diet Meals When You Can Make Your Own for Less? This is where "The Easy-Does It Diet" system steps in. After all - what is diet food, anyway? Isn't diet food just less food, with all the needed nutrients but without the extra calories? Do you really need to pay a company extra money for less food?Do-it-yourself diet food. It just makes sense. This cookbook gives you more than recipes - it gives you a complete system for creating your own diet meals in your kitchen. When you take your own frozen diet meals from your freezer you'll find a complete, delicious meal - not just the entree. Add a delicious salad and fruit for desert, or create a simple, healthy fruit smoothie (they show you how) and you have the makings for a wonderful meal. It won't taste like diet food - it will taste like your own home-cooking'.I was really impressed with this book. It is easy, it is nutritious, it is flexible, it is self-regulating and more! Negative Calorie Foods

Low Calorie Recipe!

Weight Loss with Negative Calorie Foods!
All foods have some calories. No food is actually "negative calorie" food. But the overall effect of certain foods in our body is that of "negative calories". Negative calorie foods are foods, which use more calories to digest than the calories the foods actually contain! Calories from these foods are much harder for the body to breakdown and process. In other words, the body has to work harder in order to extract calories from these foods. This gives these foods a tremendous natural fat-burning advantage, and are also known as fat burning foods.A piece of dessert consisting of 400 calories may require only 150 calories to be digested by our body, resulting in a net gain of 250 calories which is added to our body fat! According to this theory, for example, if you eat 100 calories of a food that requires 150 calories to digest, then you've burnt an additional 50 calories simply by eating that food. Typically, a 25 calorie piece of broccoli (100 gram) requires 80 calories to digest, resulting in a net loss of 55 calories from the body fat!! Thus, the more you eat, the more you lose weight!!! These exact same claims have been around as long as I can remember (and I'm not getting any younger!)

In fact, headlines like this have been prevalent in Women's Magazines, Daily Newspapers, Local Yellow Pages, and even tacked to Grocery Store bulletin boards for many, many years now. But with each year, the rhetoric of the diet industry becomes more bold in its claims. Each new issue of Women's World, or Redbook declare boldly on their covers things like, 'Finally! A Diet that Works!' or 'The Last Diet You'll Ever Need!'. Hmmmmm... didn't they say that last week? If last week's diet was the 'last I'd ever need', why a new one this week? It discusses healthy weight loss and the problems associated with it. It is a proven fact that most of us eat more than we think. That is why pre-packaged systems help us lose weight-it is easier to let someone else measure out our portions for us.

But Why Spend Your Money on Mass-Produced Diet Meals When You Can Make Your Own for Less? This is where "The Easy-Does It Diet" system steps in. After all - what is diet food, anyway? Isn't diet food just less food, with all the needed nutrients but without the extra calories? Do you really need to pay a company extra money for less food?

Do-it-yourself diet food.

It won't taste like diet food - it will taste like your own home-cooking'.

I was really impressed with this book. It is easy, it is nutritious, it is flexible, it is self-regulating and more! What Does It Mean?
What is a Low Carb Diet? You'll do away with bad carbs and bad fats, and start eating good fats and good carbs. What you need to understand is that you are not really on a diet, but changing the way you eat. Eating the wrong foods consistently throws your body out of balance. Most of us tend to overdue it eating processed carbs. What do I mean by processed carbs? Basically, there are two kinds of carbohydrates, simple and complex. Some refer to them as bad and good carbs, fast and slow digestion carbs and others. Here are some basic explanations:

SIMPLE CARBS - Foods with simple or refined carbohydrates most often have a low nutrient content and a high-glycemic index. They are metabolized quickly (quick to digest). They enter the bloodstream and rapidly elevate blood sugar levels, then fall dramatically within a short span of time. In order to keep the body running healthy and stable, it is recommended that these type foods be limited. Examples of these simple or overprocessed carbs are white bread, potatoes, and sugary treats like cookies, candy, cupcakes and cakes, and beverages like cola products.

COMPLEX CARBS - Foods with complex carbohydrates contain many nutrients and have a low- to moderate-glycemic index. Higher fiber content in these foods means slower digestion, which is healthier for the body (including reducing mood swings and food cravings). And these foods are considered good choices by health advisors. Examples of these complex carbs are whole grains, most fruits and vegetables. Legumes, plants of the pea or bean family, are also in this category.

WHICH IS BEST?? Studies show that low-carb diets can help with weight loss; which means that the carbs need to be of the complex, low-glycemic type. The key is eating whole, real, unprocessed food found as close to nature as possible.

WHY DOES YOUR BODY NEED CARBOHYDRATES ANYWAY? Carbohydrates cause your body to produce a hormone called Insulin. Insulin is responsible for the movement of glucose (sugar) from the food you eat into the cells of your body to be used for energy. Excess glucose (that is not burned as energy) is then stored as body fat. Years of consuming too many carbohydrates can lead to a sensitivity of the cells to Insulin. This can result in the body having to make more (and more) Insulin to get the same job done. Over time over-production of Insulin can lead to high cholesterol, heart disease, obesity and type II diabetes and more. A side effect of Insulin over-production is that it actually causes more fat to be deposited.

EATING LOW CARB WORKS WITH YOUR BODY.

All the food you consume provides energy for your body. Your body burns fuel in this order: carbohydrates / fat / protein. So, by limiting the carbohydrates you eat, it is perfectly natural for your body to burn fat next. Your body will go inward and start burning your own body fat for fuel. Because of this store of body fat, you wont feel hungry and you will maintain a more even blood sugar level throughout the day. One important thing to note here is ... it is not eating too much fat that makes you over weight - it is eating far more carbohydrates than your body needs to use for energy.

Switch your body TODAY from a glucose burning metabolism to a FAT burning metabolism and use your body fat for energy instead of storing more fat! The best way is to plan your course of action, One of the best books I have come across is “Variety Plus” Low Carb Cookbook. It come with a low carb diet plan that is very helpful. To learn more Click Here!

It is important, however, that any and all dietary planning should be made under the guidance of your own medical practitioners.
